Gravity Drop Packer vs Soft-Drop Pick-and-Place for Glass Bottles and Jars

Prevent glass breakage, scuffed labels, and crushed corrugated partitions: when to use a gravity drop packer (LV-P3103) vs a servo soft-drop bladder packer.

Choosing between a gravity drop packer (LV-P3103) and a servo pick-and-place / soft-drop case packer (LV-P3103S) for glass bottles and jars depends on container impact tolerance, partitioned reshipper cells (LV-PI150), and wet/pressure-sensitive label protection (0 mm free fall vs cushioned drop).

Multi-Lane Bottle Laning, Grid Fingers & Soft-Drop Cushioning Mechanics

High-speed beverage, water, edible oil, sauce, and household chemical lines (60 to 360+ bottles/min) require continuous multi-lane flow into 2×3, 3×4, or 4×6 case matrices without bottle tipping, label scuffing, or glass breakage. Size your line rate in our case packer speed and collation calculator and match the drop mechanism to your container material:

  1. Low-Friction Multi-Lane Dividing & Line-Pressure Relief: Incoming containers transition onto 2, 3, 4, or 6 acetal (POM) tabletop chains guided by servo lane dividers or anti-shingling pneumatic lane brakes. Dual photo-eyes verify that every lane holds a full row of containers before releasing the grid cycle, preventing short-count cases.
  2. Pneumatic Lift-Table Gravity Drop (LV-P3103, 5–30 CPM) for PET & HDPE: On standard PET, HDPE, and metal can lines, a pneumatic or servo case lift table raises the empty RSC box to within 50–80 mm of the spring-steel grid fingers. When the sliding riding strip opens, containers drop through the guide fingers while the lift table cushions the impact downward onto a urethane shock pad.
  3. Zero-Impact Servo Bladder Soft-Drop (LV-P3103S, 10–22 CPM) for Glass & Partitioned Cases: When packing glass wine, spirit, beer, or sauce bottles into partitioned reshipper cases (LV-PI150), a 2-axis servo head lowers full-depth inflatable polyurethane neck bladders or mechanical neck jaws all the way to the case floor (0 mm free fall) before releasing.

Uncaser, Partition Inserter & Case Sealer Synchronization

Even the fastest servo collator will miss shift OEE targets if the case erecting, flap sealing, or downstream accumulation module jams on high-recycle corrugated board. LINEVO enforces four mechanical design standards across every station:

Subsystem Station LINEVO Model Rated Speed (CPM) Core Mechanical Function Container & Case Compatibility
Empty-Bottle Uncaser LV-UC200 10–28 CPM Opens reshipper flaps, lifts empty glass bottles onto rinsing conveyor 6, 12, or 24-cell partitioned reshipper RSCs
Gravity Drop Case Packer LV-P3103 5–30 CPM Multi-lane acetal laning + spring-steel grid + cushioned case lift table Round, square, and oval PET / HDPE bottles, cans, gallon jugs
Servo Soft-Drop Packer LV-P3103S 10–22 CPM Servo Z-axis lowers pneumatic neck bladders to bottom of case (0 mm drop) Glass bottles, fragile jars, heavy metal-lug closures
Automatic Partition Inserter LV-PI150 12–25 CPM Pulls flat chipboard/corrugated cell dividers, expands & inserts into RSC 2×3, 3×4, 4×6 die-cut cell partitions (15-min changeover)

4-Gate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) & Turnkey Line Qualification

Before any LINEVO case packer, case erector, or integrated monoblock (LV-P200-MP) is approved for crating, our engineering team executes a documented 4-Gate Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) using 30 to 50 of your actual knocked-down corrugated blanks and production product samples:

  • Gate 1 — 30-Minute Uninterrupted Run at 100% Rated CPM: The machine packs 300 to 900 consecutive cases at full contract speed with ≥98.5% net completion, zero vacuum-drop misfires, and ≥80% hot-melt fiber tear across all four major flaps.
  • Gate 2 — Timed ≤15-Minute No-Tool SKU Changeover: A single technician switches the machine from your smallest SKU to your largest SKU using only the Siko digital counter recipe sheet and quick-release pin mandrels, verifying first-case diagonal squareness within ±1.5 mm.
  • Gate 3 — PackML Upstream & Downstream Handshake Simulation: Full verification of dry-contact or Ethernet/IP / Profinet interlocks with upstream checkweighers, metal detectors, downstream LV-9560PL print-and-apply GS1-128 labelers, and 24V MDR accumulation conveyors.
